Introduction
Polyurethane foam is a one-part, polyurethane-based product supplied in an aerosol can; once dispensed it expands and turns into a stable structure. The product can act as a filler, insulator and adhesive, and is therefore used for sealing around door and window installation and for acoustic and thermal insulation of buildings. After full cure the foam can be cut, sanded and painted. Because polyurethane foam is not stable against ultraviolet radiation and, when exposed to direct sunlight, gradually suffers discolouration, brittleness and surface erosion, it is recommended to cover the foam surface with paint or a covering tape after it has fully cured.
