Introduction

White roof waterproofing (roof coating) is a one-part, liquid, white, flexible and long-lasting coating based on water-based acrylic resins, designed to be applied cold for watertight sealing and waterproofing of roofs and exterior building surfaces such as around chimneys, vents and skirting. After drying, by forming a continuous, water-resistant layer, this product is an ideal choice for repairing, protecting and extending the life of new and old roofs, balconies and terraces, especially in damp environments. Its white colour gives it light-reflecting properties and therefore reduces heat absorption on the roof surface, lowering the energy used for cooling interior spaces. Another important feature of this product is its antibacterial property, which prevents the growth and spread of fungi and bacteria.

Applications

• Waterproofing on concrete and cement surfaces (concrete roofs, cement screeds for slopes, sand-cement mortar) - mosaic, ceramic and stone (provided the bond is not loose) - bituminous membrane (if its aluminium foil has come away) - old bitumen waterproofing (if relatively sound and not detached) - plaster surfaces (requires an acrylic primer)
• Unsuitable places
• White roof waterproofing (roof coating) cannot be used on painted surfaces, bituminous membrane with an aluminium coating, damp surfaces (the surface must be prepared and dried before use), loose surfaces, plastering and freshly poured concrete (until fully dry), submerged environments (for these surfaces use the Ghaffari two-part waterproof coating or liquid bituminous membrane product), PVC, metal or plastic surfaces.

Directions for use

Surface preparation

1. The surface must be clean, dry and free of dust, oil, grease, flaking paint, moss, algae and loose compounds; if present, remove them with a brush and a suitable detergent and allow the surface to dry completely.
2. For a better result on building surfaces, it is recommended to prepare the surface with a suitable primer (Ghaffari acrylic primer) before use.
3. Before application, fill and level cracks, settlements and local cavities with a suitable mortar or repair material to provide a uniform surface for applying the roof coating.

Product preparation

1. Before use, mix the product thoroughly with a manual or mechanical (low-speed) mixer until uniform.
2. If necessary, a maximum of 5 to 10 percent by weight of clean water can be added gradually to the product to adjust the consistency, and mixed again.

Method of application

1. Apply the roof coating with a wide brush and roller, and in the corners of the surface with a narrow brush. (The choice of application tool depends on the size of the surface.)
2. For a complete result, two to three coats (final thickness 1 to 2 millimetres) are recommended; apply each coat after the previous coat has dried.
3. The time to dry and reach final resistance (depending on the substrate and the weather) is between 24 and 48 hours after applying the final coat. Plastered surfaces dry faster, and concrete and metal surfaces dry more slowly.

Notes

1. Avoid application at very low temperatures, during rain and in intense humidity. If it rains before the coating has dried completely, prevent direct contact of water with the coated surface (with a temporary cover).
2. Do not mix the product with materials such as solvents or building paints.
3. Avoid foot traffic on the surface waterproofed with roof coating for at least 24 hours.

Storage and warnings

- Use gloves during use.

- Keep out of the reach of children.

- Store away from direct sunlight and heat sources, in a well-ventilated place.
